MISSION, VISION, VALUES

Love Chapel Christian Church – Mission, Vision and Values

MISSION

We believe in the mission that Jesus spoke of known as the Great Commision, ‘ Go therefore and make disciples of all nations’ (Matt. 28:19 ESV)

The question is how do we do this? How do you make disciples? At Love Chapel Christian Church we believe that the discipleship process starts from the moment someone believes that Jesus is the Christ, He died on a cross, He was buried and rose again to restore us to righteousness or right standing with God.

From the moment of that belief, a follower of Christ is turned onto a path known as Sanctification. That path towards eternity looks differently for everyone, so the path of discipleship will look different for everyone. This means we partner together, hand in hand, to keep our focus on the redemption we have in Christ and the promises God has given to us.

VISION

“We exist to help people make spiritual, personal and promise-filled connections to God and a Christ-centered community”.

We are united in the belief that “Jesus is the Christ” the one true source to receive salvation. John 20:30,31; 2 Timothy 3:16,17

We desire to lead people to a relationship with Jesus. Connect them to a community of believers. And equip them to live out the promises God has over their lives.

VALUES

At LCCC we say ‘Love Lives Here’ and we believe that there are three main ways we live this out or the ‘Three Loves’, Love God – Love the Word – Love the Valley.

Jesus teaches in Matthew 22 that loving God and serving your neighbors are the 2 greatest commandments and that all of the law is fulfilled through those two things.

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” – Matthew 22:37- 40 ESV

This is the root of the ‘Three Loves’.

Love God To love God is to worship Him (Luke 4:8). To love God is to put Him first (Mark 12:30). To love God is to desire Him (Luke 10:39). To love God is to obey Him (John 14:15, 23, 15:10, 1 John 5:3).

Love the Word – (Psalm 119:97) The Bible is the inspired word from God. Through the Word or the Bible, we receive something known as persistent revelation of God. We learn of His sovereignty and His love for His people. To Love God, we must know God and the only way to know God is to Love the Word.

Love the Valley – (John 13:34-35) Unicoi County is known as ‘The Valley Beautiful’. When we say ‘Love the Valley’ we are saying we love the people of Unicoi County. We do this through sharing the truth of scripture and outreach/mission projects. Our first mission field is the Valley.

BaptismWe hold fast to the fact that baptism follows a confession of faith. Our Church uses immersion for baptism following Jesus’ example found in Matt. 3:13-17.

CommunionFor I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. – 1 Cor. 11:23-26 ESV

The Lord’s Supper or Communion is celebrated in weekly worship and is open to all who are followers of Jesus Christ.

At Love Chapel Christian Church we do not require church membership to partake in communion. We do ask a few things of you. 1) That you have made a confession of faith and have surrendered your life to Jesus and that you have been baptized. 2) We also ask that you search your heart and make sure that you take the elements with the right spirit.

During our time of communion, if you do not meet those guidelines, please let the plate pass.
